Supply chain and business system modernization
Subcontract through a prime contractor · October 2023 to September 2025

The challenge

The NIH Supply Center relied on business processes in the NIH Business System (NBS), the Oracle E-Business Suite platform behind NIH finance, procurement and property management, that had not been redesigned in about fifteen years. Staff depended on the central NIH team to resolve routine issues.

What our team did

  • Business process analysis with Supply Center stakeholders across procurement, inventory and financial workflows
  • Onsite discovery sessions comparing standard Oracle inventory functionality with current practice, covering item definition, units of measure, locators and item relationships
  • Gap analysis that sorted each finding into configuration change, user training, new functionality or a later sprint
  • Modernization strategy documents and architecture blueprints for the redesigned processes
  • Agile delivery support through sprint planning, reviews and change requests

Results
  • Supply Center staff can resolve routine operational issues without escalating to the central NIH team
